This larger carving combines fish hook, bird and fern forms, this design represents strength, spiritual guardianship and growth. The hook or matau is a symbol of strength and prosperity. The Manaia or bird element reflects the flight of the soul with the koru representing spiritual growth. 

   This modern design is carved from a great piece of Stellers Sea cow bone that I have infused coloured resin through the piece. This unique material is source from the St Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea and it is over 200yrs old.   All the designs included an adjustable waxed polyester cord along with cards that explain the meaning of the design and the background of the material. She measures 80mm by 37mm
