The manaia, usually show as a bird form, is regarded as a spiritual guardian. The design reflects the flight of the soul through life and beyond. It is often incorporated into other forms to add an the element of spiritual protection. This carving adds a Koru element to reflect spiritual growth and the search for knowledge.

    This piece is carved from a piece of Stellers Sea cow bone. It has an earthy rich patina to it. 

    All the designs include an adjustable waxed polyester cord along with cards that explain the meaning of the design and the background of the material. She measures 51mm by 32mm.
