The manaia, usually show as a bird form, is regarded as a spiritual guardian. The design reflects the flight of the soul through life and beyond. It is often incorporated into other forms to add an the element of spiritual protection. This design was carved around the idea of staying strong and moving forward through adversity. 

    This piece is carved from aged beef bone and has great patterning and colour running through it. All the designs include an adjustable waxed polyester cord along with cards that explain the meaning of the design and the background of the material. She measures 80mm by 40mm.
