The traditional fish hook design is one of the most prevalent symbols used in Maori carving. It's a talisman for prosperity and strength. It is a good design for anyone with an affinity for water and is often given as a mark of friendship and respect. I carved a rope element into this design adding to the idea of strength.  This contemporary take on the design measures 6.4 cm x 3.7 cm
